There will be a proof showing the nonexistence of odd perfect numbers or a proof showing the existence of an odd perfect number (including but not limited to a demonstrated example of an odd perfect number) by six months before the judging date. The proof/example shall appear in a reputable mathematical journal and have stood up to critical review for at least six months by the judging date.
If odd perfect numbers are shown to exist OR not exist, this claim shall be judged YES. If the question remains unresolved (as defined above) this claim shall be judged NO.
