This claim will be judged TRUE if an automatic system (perhaps similar to that used in tennis) for making any baseball umpiring decision [any of ball/strike, foul/fair, safe/out, caught/dropped would be acceptable] is used officially during a major league baseball game before Jan 1, 2000. Standard instant replay monitored or judged by human officials specifically does not count. The system must make decisions during the game; decisions made after the game is over do not count. It is irrelevant whether and how often humans can overrule the decision of the system. The system may be electronic or otherwise. If MLB ceases to exist, this claim will be judged FALSE by default.
